It’s a Wonderful Life in the High-Desert City of Adelanto
The Sonrisa real estate development in Adelanto is located near Victorville, in Southern California's Victory Valley. Part of San Bernardino County’s growing high-desert area, Adelanto is a tranquil hometown benefiting from sunny skies and an appealing four-seasons climate. Currently with a population just over 23,000, Adelanto is benefiting from the area’s expanding economic base expected to generate between 5,000 and 15,000 new jobs in the next 20 years. Many major employers are located at the Southern California Logistics Airport, the former George Air Force Base.
Great Schools for Great Kids
Children who live at the Sonrisa real estate community will attend schools in the Adelanto School District and the Victor Valley School District, or parents might select from a number of private schools that serve the region. Several opportunities for higher education are available in the area, including Victor Valley Community College and branches of Azusa Pacific University and Chapman University. Additionally, California State University San Bernardino is less than 30 miles away.
Fun in the Sun
Adelanto and the surrounding area are home to a wide range of family-oriented recreational facilities, including basketball courts, soccer and softball fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, racquetball courts, public and private golf courses, playgrounds and picnic areas. The Mojave Narrows Regional Park is an ideal spot for boating, fishing, hiking and camping. The park is also the site of Huck Finn’s Country and Bluegrass Jubilee, an annual event for music lovers of all ages. Adelanto is an easy drive from several popular ski and snowboard areas, including Mountain High, Snow Summit and Big Bear.
Shopping, Culture and Entertainment
There’s lots of local shopping at the nearby Mall of Victor Valley, which offers more than 100 stores. The mall’s new 16-screen theater with stadium seating is expected to open in 2006. Area residents also enjoy proximity to the Factory Merchant and Tanger outlet malls in Barstow. The entire family can get behind the High Desert Mavericks, a minor league baseball team that plays right in Adelanto. Mavericks Stadium hosts events such as boxing, motorcycle grand prix and concerts, as well. Both Adelanto and Victorville have well-stocked branches of the San Bernardino County Library, and the area’s Route 66 Museum and Victor Valley Museum and Art Gallery are popular destinations.
